The prism box itself is constructed from Stainless Steel, allowing for the testing of highly corrosive materials without fear of damaging the box. • Water Jacketed Prism Box: The prism mounts are equipped for fluid circulation, allowing connection to a Thermostatically Controlled Circulating bath for maintaining constant temperature during measurements.
• Integrated Digital Temperature Indicator (DTI): The DTI is a compact and rugged system providing easy and accurate determination of the prism temperature, which is essential for precise results.
• High Resolution: The DTI utilises a PT-100 probe offering a resolution of 0.1 °C with a repeatability of 0.5 °C.
• Clear Display: The temperature reading is presented on a bright LED or LCD display.
Measurement Versatility and Illumination
The R-8 offers dual graduations for Refractive Index ($n_D$) and Brix Percentage (Sugar), along with the capability for the measurement of Dispersion.
Illumination can be managed based on sample type, offering the advantage of operating on either Transmitted light or Reflected light. This flexibility is particularly useful when measuring highly coloured samples, plastic substances, or dark or solid samples accurately.
When fitted with the compact lighting system (often integrated with the digital indicator unit), the need for an external light source is eliminated. An intensity controller is built into the indicator panel, allowing the user to adjust the Prism Box illumination intensity to achieve a sharp and well-defined demarcation shadow.
