The Electronics India Model 934 Digital Melting Point Apparatus is a robust and reliable instrument specifically designed for the accurate measurement of melting points and for checking the melting range of solid samples. The apparatus utilizes a durable silicon oil-bath system to provide consistent and controlled heating. The melting point data is presented via a clear digital readout, ensuring precise results required for quality control and research applications.
 
Heating System and Uniformity:
 
The heating mechanism centers around a silicon oil-bath beaker of approximately 200 ml capacity. This bath is fitted with a special oil immersion heater and covered with a Teflon or Ptfe cover. To ensure optimal thermal performance, the unit includes an in-built magnetic stirrer designed to provide uniform heating throughout the silicon oil-bath.
 
An electronic controller with an indicator allows the user to precisely adjust the rate of heating of the oil-bath. The heating system is managed via a High/Low range temperature selector switch.
Digital Display and Operation.
 
The Model 934 features a highly visible 4 Digit Seven Segment LED Display (or 3 Digit, 7-Segment LED Display depending on specific version). The digital temperature indicator uses a PT100 RTD sensor.
A key feature distinguishing the Model 934 is its temperature resolution of 1 °C across the operating range of 0–300 °C.
 
Measurement is straightforward:
 
1. The ‘Start’ switch initiates the measurement process.
2. The user stops the measurement using the ‘Stop’ switch once the instrument reaches the sample's melting point.
3. The display retains the last temperature recorded when the ‘Stop’ switch was pressed.
4. The ‘Clear’ switch is used to reset the display to zero before the next test.
 
Sample Observation:
 
The apparatus is engineered to facilitate easy and strain-free observation of the sample capillaries during testing. It includes a large magnifier combined with a glare-free background illuminator.
The oil-bath cover is designed with three holes specifically for holding the capillaries, one hole for the boiling point tube, and one hole for a thermometer.
