The Digital Clinical Flame Photometer Model 391 is a dedicated dual channel instrument used primarily for the simultaneous observation of Sodium and Potassium. It is also designed as a rugged and accurate instrument capable of determining the concentration of Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, and Lithium in various solutions. Principle of Operation:
The Model 391 instrument system is supplied in two separate units: the Main Unit and the Compressor Unit.
1. Aspiration and Atomisation: The Compressor Unit provides compressed, dry, oil-free air. This air passes into the atomiser/nebulizer, creating suction which draws the liquid sample solution. The sample is then sprayed into the flame as a fine mist.
2. Detection and Readout: The light emitted by the excited element at its characteristic wavelength is isolated by narrow band interference filters. This isolated light falls onto the Silicon Photodiode detector. After signal conditioning and conversion, the results are displayed directly in ppm/meq units on the Dual 2½ Digit, 7-Segment LED display.
3. Filter Selection and Flame Control: The narrow band interference filters are mounted on a rotating disc fitted within the Main Unit, allowing the user to select the appropriate filter by rotating the disc with the thumb. The flame system utilizes LPG and dry oil-free air, maintained by an oil-free compressor and a precision regulator for stable airflow.
