Product Overview:
The Digital Flame Photometer Model 381 (often referred to as EI-DVI in the Deep Vision series) by Electronics India is a robust and reliable instrument designed for the accurate determination of specific alkali and alkaline earth metals. This instrument is simple and easy to operate, making it an ideal choice for soil testing laboratories, as well as various other scientific and analytical applications requiring precise elemental measurement. The Model 381 facilitates the measurement of Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), and includes optional capabilities for Calcium (Ca) and Lithium (Li) determination.
Core Functionality and Design:
The Model 381 system is supplied as two main components: the Main Unit and the Compressor Unit.
1. Main Unit: This unit contains the essential components for measurement and display, including the digital displays, the detector, the filters, and the nebulizer.
2. Compressor Unit: This unit is critical for supplying the compressed, oil-free air necessary for stable operation. It includes an oil-free mini compressor and a pressure regulator to maintain a stable airflow.
The instrument is designed to measure one element at a time. The light emitted by the specific element at its characteristic wavelength is isolated by narrow band interference glass filters. These filters are mounted on a rotating disc fitted within the Main Unit, allowing the appropriate filter to be selected easily by the user.
Principle of Operation
During operation, air is passed into the atomizer at a regulated pressure. The resulting suction draws the liquid sample solution into the concentric non-corrosive nebulizer (a black backelite, axial flow type), which sprays a fine mist into the flame. The flame system utilizes LPG and dry oil-free air.
The characteristic light generated by the element in the flame then falls onto the highly sensitive Silicon Photodiode detector. After signal conditioning and digital conversion, the results are displayed directly in ppm (parts per million) or meq units on the 2½ Digit, 7-Segment LED readout. Stability of the flame is ensured by a specially designed mixing chamber. The photometer also features a convenient auto ignition system, which uses an in-built electronic ignition mechanism activated by the press of a switch.
