The OCTOVISION Melting Point Apparatus (DVI) is a crucial instrument designed to accurately determine the melting point of a substance. This versatile unit combines the precision of a digital temperature controller with the stability of a manually adjustable energy regulator, offering flexible and reliable performance for laboratory applications. The apparatus is supplied complete with the necessary accessories, including a 360°C glass thermometer and a box of OES capillary tubes, ensuring immediate operational readiness.
Precision Control and Observation
This apparatus operates by loading a sample into a sealed capillary. The heating mechanism uses a metallic heating block, which is heated electrically via superior heating elements.
The temperature control incorporates two methods for superior accuracy:
1. Digital Control: The digital version (DVI) allows the temperature to be set and observed using a digital temperature control panel.
2. Energy Regulation: Temperature can also be adjusted using an energy control knob provided.
Samples in the capillaries are inserted from the top into the metallic heating block, which has holes designed to receive up to three capillary tubes simultaneously, along with a stem type thermometer. Observation of the melting process is made through an eyepiece which features a magnifier for enhanced viewing.
The apparatus includes a provision and clamp to securely hold one glass thermometer along with the capillaries at the top, allowing the melting temperature of the sample to be visually observed directly. This apparatus is capable of measuring melting points up to 360°C.
