Product Overview:
The Lab Junction Model 1335 Microprocessor Based Digital Turbidity Meter is a reliable and accurate instrument engineered for measuring the optical clarity of liquids. Turbidity, a critical indicator of water quality, measures the haziness or cloudiness of a sample caused by suspended particulate matter such as clay, silt, algae, bacteria, and finely divided organic or inorganic material. This advanced meter provides precise turbidity readings, essential for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in various scientific and industrial applications.
Working Principle and Technology:
The Model 1335 operates on the principle of light scattering, specifically employing nephelometric technology. The core functionality involves focusing a light source (an IR LED) onto the liquid sample contained within a clear glass test tube. Suspended particles within the sample scatter this light.
A photodetector (Silicon Photodiode) measures the intensity of the light scattered at a 90-degree angle relative to the incident light beam. The microprocessor system then converts this detected light intensity into a quantitative turbidity value. Higher scattering intensity corresponds directly to higher turbidity levels (cloudier water).
This instrument is specifically designed to provide highly accurate results through sophisticated numerical calculations.
Advanced Features:
Microprocessor Control and Calibration:
Equipped with a microprocessor-controlled system, the Model 1335 offers enhanced functionality far beyond basic turbidity measurement. A key feature is the 5 points calibration facility, ensuring maximum accuracy across the measurement range. Once calibrated, the calibration data is permanently retained in the memory, even after the instrument is switched off.
Data Management and Display:
The instrument features a 16 x 2 line Alphanumeric LCD display with a backlight, allowing for easy and clear reading of measurements. The system includes a storage capacity of up to 100 samples for efficient data logging. For generating physical records, the meter includes an external serial RS232 port for attachment to a Dot Matrix Printer.
Applications:
The determination of water clarity is vital for products intended for human consumption, as well as for industrial processes manufacturing beverages and food products. The Lab Junction Model 1335 is suitable for a diverse range of applications, including:
• Water Quality Testing: Essential for assessing minimum turbidity limits in drinking water.
• Wastewater Management: Used for sewage and effluent discharge monitoring.
• Laboratory Analysis: Providing precise, repeatable measurements in controlled environments.
• Industrial Quality Control: Monitoring clarity in production processes where suspension-free water is necessary.
