Measurement Principle (Nephelometry):
The EI-DVI Model 1331 operates on the 90° scattered light principle, which is recognized as the gold standard for turbidity measurement, particularly for water and wastewater analysis.
1. A focused light source is directed onto a clear glass test tube containing the liquid sample.
2. The instrument uses an IR LED (Infrared Light Emitting Diode) as the light source. The use of infrared light minimizes interference caused by the colour of the sample.
3. Suspended particles within the sample scatter the incident light.
4. The light reflected at a 90° angle to the focused beam is detected by a photoelectric detector (Photodiode).
5. The measured scattered light intensity is amplified and displayed in NTU.
