Product Description: Lutron Model SL-4013 Digital Sound Level Meter:

The Lutron SL-4013 is a premium, high-accuracy digital sound level meter, engineered for precise noise measurements in professional environments. Designed with both auto-ranging and manual selection capabilities, this instrument is ideal for applications requiring compliance with international standards, such as occupational health and safety, environmental noise monitoring, and construction site management.

Precision Measurement and Industry Compliance:

The SL-4013 adheres to the stringent IEC 61672 Class 2 standard for frequency weighting, ensuring reliable and professional-grade performance. It employs a high-accuracy 1/2 inch electric condenser microphone, capable of capturing sound waves with exceptional sensitivity across a wide spectrum.

Wide Dynamic Range The meter measures sound levels from a subtle 30 dB up to a maximum of 130 dB, offering a 0.1 dB resolution for detailed analysis.

Selectable Frequency Weighting The SL-4013 features A and C frequency weighting networks. A-weighting simulates the response of the human ear and is typically used for environmental sound level measurement. C-weighting approximates a “FLAT” frequency response, making it suitable for checking machinery noise or determining the overall sound pressure level of equipment.

Time Characteristics Users can select between Fast (200 ms) and Slow (500 ms) dynamic characteristic modes. The Fast setting mimics the speed of the human ear's response, while the Slow setting allows for easier calculation of average sound level values, meeting IEC 61672 Class 2 requirements.
Operational Flexibility and Data Management

Designed for professional convenience, the SL-4013 includes several features that enhance field operations and data analysis:

Separate Sound Probe The instrument features a separate sound probe, which facilitates easy operation and remote sound measurement, allowing the user to position the microphone accurately while viewing the readings clearly on the main unit.

Advanced Data Retention Functions such as Data Hold freeze the displayed reading, while Memory Record (Max/Min) stores the highest and lowest readings detected during a measurement session. The Peak Hold function captures and retains the maximum peak value.

Connectivity and Analysis For system expansion and advanced analysis, the meter includes an RS232 computer interface and an AC output terminal. Data can be transferred to a PC or laptop via optional RS232 or USB cables, supported by optional data display and acquisition software.

Easy Calibration A built-in external calibration VR (Variable Resistor) allows for easy field calibration at 94 dB using a simple screwdriver, ensuring measurement accuracy and stability.

Ergonomics and Durability:

The main instrument features a compact and lightweight design, allowing for single-handed operation. The robust, durable housing is made of strong, lightweight ABS-plastic, built to withstand challenging industrial and field environments. The large 52 mm x 32 mm LCD display provides a clear, 5-digit readout even in bright ambient light conditions.
