Lutron SL-4011 Sound Level Meter:
Product Overview:
The Lutron SL-4011 is a robust and accurate digital sound level meter, designed as a professional-grade tool for measuring noise levels across various demanding environments. It is engineered with frequency and time weighting characteristics that meet the strict requirements of IEC 61672 class 2. This instrument provides reliable results, making it an essential device for environmental monitoring, occupational health and safety, and quality control (Q.C. check).
Advanced Measurement Capabilities:
The meter features a broad measurement capacity with 3 ranges covering 30 dB to 130 dB (input signal only). The unit incorporates dual frequency weighting networks:
• A Weighting: This characteristic simulates the "Human Ear Listing" response and is typically selected when making environmental sound level measurements.
• C Weighting: This characteristic is near the "FLAT" response and is suitable for determining the sound pressure level of tested equipment or checking machinery noise.
The SL-4011 also offers two dynamic characteristics modes for time weighting:
• Fast (t= 200 ms): Simulates the human ear response time weighting.
• Slow (t= 500 ms): Designed to make it easier to obtain the average values of vibration sound level.
The device employs an electric condenser microphone which ensures high accuracy and long-term stability.
Key Functions and Data Handling:
The operation of the SL-4011 is enhanced by several useful functions:
• Max. Hold: This function allows the user to store and display the maximum measured value.
• Data Hold: Keeps the current reading on the display.
• Max. Hold Reset: A dedicated reset button is included for the maximum hold function.
• Over/Under Load Warning: Features a warning indicator to alert the user of over and under load conditions.
• External Output: Includes an AC/DC output for system expansion. A 3.5 mm phone output terminal is provided for connecting the meter to devices like level recorders, analyzers, or tape recorders.
• Calibration: Features a built-in adjustable VR for easy external calibration using a screwdriver.
Design and Construction
The instrument features a user-friendly design optimized for field work and laboratory use:
• Display: Readings are shown on a large, easy-to-read 18mm (0.7") LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) with 3 1/2 digits. The LCD display is also noted for its low power consumption, providing clear readout even in bright ambient light conditions.
• Housing: Constructed using durable, long-lasting components housed within a strong, light weight ABS-plastic housing case.
• Portability: The small and lightweight design (280 g, including the battery) allows for comfortable one-hand operation.
• Power: Operates using a 006P DC 9V heavy-duty type battery. A low battery indicator is included on the LCD display.
