Product Overview:
The 2WAJ Abbe Refractometer is a simple yet high-resolution tabletop instrument designed for precise measurements in laboratory and industrial settings. It quickly and accurately determines the refractive index (nD) and sugar content (Brix) of various liquid, viscous, solid, translucent, or opaque substances.
Based on the critical angle effect, this robust optical-mechanical device is equipped with a digital thermometer for enhanced monitoring and offers multiple functions crucial for quality control and research applications. The instrument features a solid cast metal housing, ensuring long-term durability and reliability.
Key Features and Functionality:
High-Resolution Measurement The Abbe Refractometer provides highly accurate readings for both refractive index and sugar concentration, making it an indispensable tool for detailed analysis. The optical index-plate reading ensures precision and reliability.
Broad Sample Compatibility This device is versatile, allowing for the measurement of refractive index and average dispersion (nF-nc) for transparent or translucent liquid and solid substances. It can handle liquids, dispersions, and emulsions.
Temperature Control Capability Refractive index is temperature dependent. The 2WAJ-1 model is equipped with a digital thermometer and features incorporated water tube adapters in the upper and lower prisms, allowing the temperature to be controlled externally, typically within a range of 0 °C to +70 °C, for temperature-compensated measurements.
User-Friendly Design Featuring a visual aim system, the refractometer is designed for easy and reliable use. The reading is obtained via an eyepiece, and adjustments are made using compensation and measurement knobs to set the light/dark boundary line (shadow boundary) accurately. The color compensation feature helps to achromatize the boundary line for precise setting.
Applications:
The 2WAJ-1 Abbe Refractometer is widely utilized across various sectors for determining concentration, quality, and consistency, including:
• Food and Beverage: Determining sugar concentration (°Brix) in juices, soft drinks, concentrated infusions, honey, and various food products.
• Chemical Industry: Analyzing chemical substances, lacquered elements, alcohols, and solvents.
• Pharmaceutical and Petroleum: Measuring and analyzing oils, lipids, paints, and petroleum products.
• Research and Education: An essential instrument for educational departments and research institutes.
