Detailed Product Description: ATAGO PAL-1 (NFC) Digital Pocket Refractometer:
1. Product Overview and Application Versatility:
The ATAGO PAL-1 is a highly acclaimed Digital Hand-Held "Pocket" Refractometer, recognized as a palm-fitting masterpiece designed and manufactured in Japan. With a wide measurement range of 0.0 to 53.0% Brix, the PAL-1 is a multi-purpose unit capable of measuring almost any liquid sample. This includes fruit juices, food purees, soups, sauces, ketchup, tomato sauce, low-sugar jams, or marmalades. The ATAGO PAL series complies with HACCP, GMP, and GLP system standards.
2. Advanced Data Transmission with NFC:
The PAL-1 is equipped with the latest Near Field Communication (NFC) data transfer technology. This functionality allows users to easily access data history by simply bringing the PAL-NFC unit near any compatible Android device or a PC-linked USB NFC Reader. The instrument stores a history of up to 100 data points.
3. Innovative and Ergonomic Design:
The PAL-1 features an ergonomic architecture developed by ATAGO for comfort and ease of use, having won the Good Design Award for its intuitive design. Its compact and light body weighs only 100g and measures 5.5 x 3.1 x 10.9 cm, allowing it to fit easily into trouser or shirt pockets.
The design prioritizes hygiene, reducing unnecessary assembly parts to lower the risk of germ reproduction. The instrument is completely washable and boasts an International Protection Class rating of IP65 (Water resistant), meaning it can be rinsed under running water. The prism is made of highly durable optical glass to prevent scratching, and the SUS (stainless steel) sample stage allows for quick and even temperature conformity for accurate measurements.
4. Measurement Efficiency and Reliability:
The measurement process is streamlined and quick, typically taking only about 3 seconds to display the Brix value and prism temperature.
• Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): This essential feature automatically corrects the measured value based on the prism temperature, ensuring accuracy even when sample temperatures fluctuate. Hot samples up to 100°C can be measured.
• External Light Interference (ELI) Feature: A revolutionary patented feature developed by ATAGO, ELI prevents light waves from interfering with the sensor when intense direct light is present (e.g., outdoors or near windows), ensuring accurate measurement results every time. The display screen also includes a backlight feature.
5. User Operation:
Measurement requires only a small sample volume of at least 0.3 mL (typically 2 to 3 drops) placed on the prism surface. Zero-setting is easily performed by placing water on the prism and pressing the ZERO key. The large, easy-to-read Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) shows the measurement value, temperature, and battery indicator. The START key is conveniently located for single-hand operation.
