The REMI CI-6 Plus Cooling Incubator is a 200-litre refrigerated incubator that controls temperature both below and above ambient, from 5 °C to 60 °C. Because it can cool as well as heat, it is widely used as a BOD incubator and for microbiological work that needs stable conditions regardless of room temperature.
Temperature is controlled by a microprocessor with a PT-100 sensor to an accuracy of ±0.5 °C, and shown on a large 1-inch 7-segment LED display. A built-in fan circulates air through the chamber to minimise temperature fluctuation, which matters for growth-rate studies and long incubation periods.
The inner chamber is made of SS 304 stainless steel, with a powder-coated CRCA steel exterior and CFC-free polyurethane foam insulation (70 mm in the body, 80 mm in the door). Two trays are supplied, and the chamber is lit by an 8 W fluorescent tube.
Safety alarms cover the most common causes of lost samples: an audio-visual alarm if the door stays open for more than one minute, a temperature-variation alarm if the chamber moves ±2 °C from set point, and a power-failure alarm. REMI recommends using the unit with its VS-02 voltage stabiliser.
