Detailed Product Description:
Product Overview:
The Octoline Pilot RO-TAP Sieve Shaker is a robust, floor-model instrument designed for highly accurate and consistent particle size analysis. As a type of mechanical sieve shaker, it operates by subjecting the sieve stack to a unique two-dimensional motion, replicating the effective circular and tapping movements traditionally achieved by hand sieving, ensuring particles stratify and successfully find the openings in the mesh. This model is engineered with heavy-duty construction for durability and long operational lifespan, making it suitable for rigorous, everyday use in various laboratory and industrial settings.
Mechanism and Operation:
The RO-TAP mechanism relies on synchronized agitation to ensure maximum separation efficiency. It utilizes two distinct motions:
1. Circular Oscillation: A horizontal, circular motion causes particles to move laterally across the sieve screens.
2. Vertical Tapping: A hammer mechanism applies vertical taps to the top of the sieve stack, helping to dislodge particles and overcome agglomeration, allowing them to pass through the critical openings of the test sieves.
This combined mechanical action is specified in various industry standards, leading to reproducible results for quantitative particle size determination. The machine is fitted with a separate unit housing a mechanical timer, allowing operators to set sieving durations for precise test procedures.
Construction and Durability:
Constructed as a heavy casting iron floor model, the Octoline Pilot RO-TAP Sieve Shaker is built to withstand high levels of movement and wear over many years of operation. Critical internal parts are often made of stainless steel (SS) to prevent rust and enhance the machine's longevity. Its rugged design ensures stable performance, making it a reliable choice for demanding industrial environments.
Applications:
Sieve shakers are indispensable tools across numerous industries for quality control, research and development, and compliance testing. The mechanical Ro-Tap action is particularly suitable for materials that are irregularly shaped, such as cube-shaped particles, abrasive particles, and tobacco. Common application areas include:
• Pharmaceuticals (analysis of active and excipient ingredients)
• Food processing (analysis of spices, flours, and additives)
• Construction and civil engineering (testing of cement, soil, and aggregates)
• Mining and mineral processing.
Key Features:
• Reproduces the precise circular oscillation and vertical tapping motion of hand sieving.
• Delivers accurate and highly reproducible results for particle size separation.
• Durable construction featuring a heavy casting iron body and stainless steel components for long-term reliability.
• Equipped with a separate mechanical timer unit for setting precise test durations.
• Standard capacity designed to accommodate six full-height sieves (8-inch diameter) plus a lid and receiver pan.
