Product Overview:
The Octoline Pilot Table Top Sieve Shaker is an essential instrument designed for efficient and accurate particle size analysis, crucial for quality control, separation, and fractioning applications in various fields. This unit is built as a compact and portable table top model, offering high performance and reliability while requiring minimal installation space. It effectively replaces manual sieving, ensuring consistent agitation for precise and reproducible separation results.
Key Features and Design:
This sieve shaker is fitted with a prompt Fractional Horsepower (FHP) electric motor, ensuring reliable operation. The unit is designed to accommodate a stack of sieves for simultaneous testing.
• Capacity: The shaker is built to accommodate up to six test sieves of 8-inch (200 mm) diameter, typically including a lid and receiver pan (sieves themselves are sold separately).
• Controlled Movement: The platform is mounted on four heavy springs, which enable the free movement required for effective screen analysis. This vibration-type movement subjects the sample to agitation, which is necessary for relative movement between the particles and the sieve mesh.
• Adjustable Speed: The sieving speed can be easily regulated through a continuously variable speed regulator fitted directly to the unit, allowing users to optimize parameters according to specific material requirements.
• Versatile Sieving: The design is suitable for use in both wet sieving (for materials suspended in liquid or those that tend to agglomerate) and dry sieving applications.
• Low Power Consumption: Operates efficiently with low power demand.
Operational Principle:
The operation of the sieve shaker is based on vibration and agitation. The process involves stacking test sieves in decreasing order of aperture size, with the coarsest sieve placed on top and a receiving pan placed at the bottom to collect the finest fraction. Once the sample is placed on the top sieve, the mechanical agitation is initiated, causing the particles to move. Smaller particles pass through the mesh openings, while larger particles are retained on the respective sieve surface, thus achieving particle separation based on size difference. The process usually involves setting a desired shake time using a built-in timer.
Applications:
The Octoline Pilot Sieve Shaker is suitable for screen analysis across laboratories and industries where particle sizing and quality control are critical. Common applications include:
• Pharmaceutical Industry: Used for quality control, particle size determination of powders, and ensuring uniformity for tablets and capsules.
• Construction Materials: Used for sieve analysis of aggregates such as cement, sand, gravel, and crushed rock.
• Food Processing: Utilized for grading grains, separating flour particles, and removing impurities from spices.
• Chemical Industry: Employed for powder classification and removing contaminants.
• Scientific Research: Fundamental technique for particle size analysis and sample preparation.
