The Model PC-10 Paper Chromatography Kit is a highly innovative and compact analytical apparatus designed specifically for qualitative chemical separation and the evaluation of Retardation Factor (Rf) values. This kit is considered ideal for use in Chemistry and Biochemistry laboratories, including Colleges, Medical Colleges, and Research Institutes. It is designed as a portable and efficient system for conducting practical paper chromatography experiments.
Core Technology and Construction:
The core of the system is the Chromatography Cabinet, which is constructed from a single piece of jointless Bakelite moulding. Bakelite material ensures the unit is durable and efficient. The cabinet typically features a front sliding glass door.
The design is compact and ensures accurate results. For optimal separation, the unit is constructed to facilitate techniques such as ascending chromatography and potentially suitable for two-dimensional chromatography.
Key Features and Inclusions:
The Model PC-10 kit is supplied complete with accessories necessary to conduct practical evaluations and calculate Rf values.
• Solvent System Components: Includes a Stainless Steel Solvent Pot (316 Quality S.S.) designed to hold the solvent mixture, offering corrosion resistance. A 20ml Glass Syringe is provided to draw solvent from the pot after the practical is complete.
• Sample Development: A Stainless Steel Hanger (typically 6 inches in size) is supplied to suspend the chromatography paper inside the cabinet.
• Visualisation Tools: A Glass Sprayer with a Rubber Balloon, made of Borosilicate Glass, is included for spraying indicators (locating agents) on the chromatography paper to detect colorless analytes. A separate Drying Stand may also be supplied to accommodate processed (wet) chromatography paper for oven drying.
• Chromatography Paper: The kit includes standard chromatography sheets (Grade “1-Chro” or similar standard quality). This paper features a smooth surface and excellent resolution for general analytical separation.
