Sartorius YDK05 Density Determination Kit
Product Overview
The Sartorius Density Determination Kit YDK05 is a high-quality accessory meticulously engineered to integrate seamlessly with specific high-resolution electronic balances. This kit enables highly accurate and convenient density measurement for solids and liquids directly using the compatible balance’s built-in application programs.
The YDK05 kit is designed specifically for balances that provide a readability of 0.01 mg. It transforms a standard analytical balance into a hydrostatic weighing system, simplifying complex density calculations by applying the Archimedean principle.
Key Applications and Principle
The core function of the YDK05 is to facilitate the determination of specific gravity (density).
Archimedean Principle: The system operates based on the principle that a solid immersed in a liquid is subjected to a force of buoyancy equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by the volume of the solid.
Applications:
1. Determining the Density of Solids: Allows for the determination of a solid’s specific gravity by comparing its weight in air to its weight when immersed in a known liquid (e.g., distilled water), provided the density of the liquid causing buoyancy is known. This method can be used for solids with a density greater than or less than $1g/cm^3$.
2. Determining the Density of Liquids: Enables the density of a liquid to be determined using a glass plummet with a defined volume.
Compatibility and Integration
The YDK05 kit is specifically compatible with Sartorius balances possessing a readability of 0.01 mg. Compatible analytical balance lines typically include:
• Secura® balances with $0.01 \text{ mg}$ readability.
• Quintix® balances with $0.01 \text{ mg}$ readability.
• Entris® II balances with $0.01 \text{ mg}$ readability.
When used with compatible balances featuring integrated density determination programs (such as the Secura® and Quintix® lines), the software guides the user through the necessary steps and calculates the density ($\rho$) values.
