The Thermo Scientific Eutech 1730 Dissolved Oxygen Bench Meter is a durable and reliable instrument designed for rapid and consistent dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature analysis in laboratory settings. It belongs to the Eutech 1700 series of bench meters and is ideally suited for simplified, economical lab testing, making it accessible to laboratory users with diverse ranges of technical knowledge. Core Measurement Capabilities
The Eutech 1730 simultaneously reads dissolved oxygen and temperature measurements. It offers flexible DO measurement presentation in multiple units, including percent saturation, concentration in mg/L, or concentration in ppm.
A key feature of the meter is its automatic compensation capability, ensuring highly accurate results regardless of the sample conditions. It provides automatic temperature compensation (ATC), which is critical since oxygen solubility in water is highly temperature-dependent. Additionally, the meter features automatic compensation for salinity (requiring manual input) and barometric pressure, all of which significantly influence dissolved oxygen levels.
Calibration is straightforward, supporting 100% and 0% saturation calibration points, as well as a one-point concentration calibration using a custom value (Winkler method).
Data Management and Compliance.
The Eutech 1730 is equipped with robust features to support Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and data integrity:
• Data Logging: The non-volatile meter memory can store up to 500 data points (or data sets), each stamped with the date and time.
• Data Output: Critical data, including calibration logs and measurement logs, can be exported via an included USB PC cable directly to a computer or printer for analysis, long-term storage, and reporting. The data output format can be CSV or print.
• Calibration Logs: Users can view the active dissolved oxygen and temperature calibration logs, complete with date and time stamps, helping to ensure accurate and reproducible measurements.
• Self-Diagnostics: The meter includes a self-diagnostic function that provides easy-to-understand troubleshooting prompts.
Ease of Use and Durability
The meter is designed with the user in mind, featuring a large, bright backlit 5-inch segmented LCD display that makes it easy to read and record simultaneous dissolved oxygen and temperature readings. Its small footprint helps to reduce the amount of required bench space in the lab.
The benchtop unit holds an IP54 enclosure rating, signifying protection from dust and splashing water, enhancing its durability in a laboratory environment. For added convenience, an attached electrode stand helps facilitate secure electrode movement into and out of samples. The meter is powered by a universal power adapter (100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz) and comes with interchangeable plugs for worldwide use (including EU, UK, AUS, US/Japan, and China).
